New Class: Oh, how time passes … Leadership Golden is already in its 36th year!  Our community’s diversity is definitely on display in this year’s class, with School of Mines, families, local merchants, and public and private industry all well-represented.  To the left is an “icebreaker” exercise on Orientation Day. You can view the class members’ bios on the Leadership Golden website (Leadershipgolden.org). Scroll to the bottom of the main page and click on Class of 2020. Then, enter the password LGclassof2020. Thanks to Elaine Marolla, Cindy Lee, James Smith and Sarah Erslev for overseeing applicant processing and preparing the Class folders!

A Class Recruiting Thank You: Please have a look at the note on our website thanking alumni for their assistance in recruiting this year’s class. Several applicants noted that they were referred by an LG Alum. Thanks again - we’ll be counting on you again next year!

Colorado Gives Day is dear to the heart of Leadership Golden.  On a single day each year (December 10th this year) Coloradans are given the opportunity to make online donations to their favorite non-profit organization(s).  Many LG Alumni contribute, with each donation being matched by Denver Area Sponsors. Please remember LGAA when giving this year!

Bike Cruise: The June Bike Cruise, sponsored by LG, was a big success. We raised $600 during a few hours of strenuous work by a team of LG Steering Committee and Board members, along with several Alumni.  Thanks to all who could be there to help! Hopefully, we’ll be asked to participate again next year, so you might as well prepare yourself now to be asked for your help then. BTW, several of us non-bikers also enjoyed the July and August events and plan on also attending the one in September.

Candidates Forum: Well it’s that time of year and once again LGAA is sponsoring a Golden Candidates’ Forum in City Hall Chambers on October 3rd from 6:30 –8:30 PM. Come meet and listen to your candidates for Mayor and various District Offices. As he has for the past 10 years, Ed Dorsey will be the forum’s moderator.

Annual Dues: Thanks to those who have paid their annual $10 Leadership Golden Alumni Association dues online!   Although we use PayPal to process credit card transactions, you don’t need a PayPal account to send payments. So if you haven’t already, please visit the LGAA website and get those dues paid!  http://www.leadershipgolden.org/pay-your-dues-online

Christmas Ornaments:  Woozer! Another Jesse Crock ornament showing Clear Creek “fall colors.”  Yes, in color this year. They are available now at Avenue Gifts and perhaps other venues closer to Christmas such as the Candlelight Walk.

Non-Profit Expo: LGAA, along with other “non-profits” under the leadership of Alum Kim Mangle, is participating in a Non-Profit Expo on Sunday, 20 October (1:00 – 3:00), at Golden High School. This is not a fundraiser or volunteer recruiting exercise just an opportunity for the many nonprofits in Golden to communicate their contribution to Golden. Please come by – you might enjoy it!
