SPECIAL
NOTICE FROM THE LGAA PRESIDENT
Hello LGAA
Alumni:
Hope
this message finds you busy and involved in the Golden
Community. If you have been following the LGAA Alumni Assoc.
through the newsletter, you know that we are going through a
big transition this year with Elaine Ilgenfritz, the LGAA
Treasurer since the inception, stepping down after 25 years.
We have been incredibly fortunate to have her dedication and
support for all these years.
The
LGAA Board is still in search of her replacement. We are
looking at a couple of options including splitting her
duties both financial and as a board member. Please consider
how you might help us as a board member, financial
administrator or recommending another LGAA Alumni that may
fit the need. As a group, we can make this transition simple
and a success. Please email or give me a call with your
suggestions.
Thank
you,
Jeanne

What is Leadership Golden?
The Leadership Golden program is designed to enhance the
abilities of the participants to make a difference. The program educates emerging
leaders and volunteers to the realities, opportunities and challenges in Golden, Colorado.
Who is eligible to participate in
Leadership Golden?
Golden residents, residents of adjacent communities with
Golden mailing addresses (Pleasant View, Lookout Mountain, etc.), and people who own
businesses or work in Golden are welcome to apply.
How much does it
cost?
Unlike virtually every other Leadership
development program in the nation, Leadership Golden is self-supporting and
tuition-free. The program received start-up funds in its earliest
years from local donors such as Coors and the Golden Civic Foundation, but
is now self-sustaining.
We have an endowment that helps cover some of
the cost. We raise most of our funding through the sale of our annual
Christmas ornaments. We ask class participants to buy or sell
ornaments each year, and we sell the ornaments through local
retailers. Mostly, we keep the program costs low because all of our
speakers and all of our organizers (board and steering committee) volunteer
their time. |
